Need help solving a problem with my hydraulic steering. Maybe some of you have experienced the same. Thanks in advance for any ideals on a solution short of taking it to the mechanic. Time for travel to the mechanic is like my money, not much of it. I had the seals replaced on May of 2015 and experienced no problems all year until the week before Christmas on Fork when the boat was around 50mph and it was China walking from bow to stern. I took it back to Rockwall Marine and they tighten the set nuts at the pin and said good to go. I went today and same problem. The boat wants to go right and at 50mph and you have to continuously turn the wheel to the left to even go straight. Not yank it but continuously turn it and the wheel make several rotations within a 1000yrd distance.

Sounds like you still have air in the system.

I'm thinking Gary is right, IF they did not bleed the system and just tighten the nuts..

There wasn't any air in the system when he brought it in. The jam nut had backed off quite a bit and after tightening it was it was pretty solid. Must have a check valve going bad in helm.

That's what I was thinking.
Had it happen to me.
Took the helm apart and cleaned it up.
All it takes is a tiny piece of crud to prevent the check valve from sealing on one side and the boat constantly turns that direction.

Air tends to slow steering response (mushy) both directions.

Grew up on Tawakoni and Texoma before hybrids and stripers existed on either.
