To start - I've been fishing everyday on a public lake in Mississippi Since 12/31/15. Its a notoriously tough lake to fish. It has pure Florida strain bass.

I've caught 8 fish, TOTAL since I've been here. Lost two others. The heaviest 5 fish weighed...wait for it...55 POUNDS. Its' been CRAZY, a 9.8, 9.6,10.65(a new PB and first DD), 11.58 (crushing my PB from 2 days before), and 13.32 (a TEENAGER!, a SAL in TX!!). I sat in my boat today in awe after catching the 13. I've TRULY been BLESSED and LUCKY this new year!!!

Weather conditions have been about the same, Sunny, Windy at times, off-colored 50-55* water and highs in the upper 40's. STABLE weather I believe has helped my fishing.

I've caught 4 of the 5 on a Strike King 3/4 Structure Jig, with a twin tail grub trailer, the 9.6,10.65 and 11.58 came on a Black/Blue with Black trailer, the 13.32 came on a PB/Jelly with Green Pumpkin trailer. I've been using a Dobyns 784 paired with a Abu Garcia Revo SX and 12 LBS Seaguar Invisx. The other (a 9.8) came on a Chartreuse/Blue Back 6XD using a Dobyns 805 CB Rod, Shimano Curado E5 and 10 LBS Trilene Big Game. I've been mixing the crankbait in everyday, I just can't seem to get them going on it.

I've been focusing on a few SMALL (100'X100' areas where the lake's main creek channel makes strong bends, I'm using my Humminbird electronics to locate balls of shad on this structure, and I'm staying Put. I've been using my Minn Kota Terrova's anchor mode to keep me on these areas, and I'm making a bunch of casts at different angles, and I'm fishing, SLOW. 2 to 3 minutes a cast, and like I said, I've been lucky to catch ONE a day.

If this can happen to ME, It can happen to ANYONE trust me. Don't give up on your dreams of catching huge bass, and don't be afraid to grind for one solid fish. Search out lakes that have fish of this caliber, fish big fish areas of the lake, and fish with a big fish bait. Seems so stereotypical, but it WORKS.

I'm not going to tell you where I caught these fish, Sorry.

Here they are in order caught from Left to Right;9.8,9.69,10.65,11.58,13.32(weighed on a certified scale), all fish were released. Hope you all enjoy the story!

Congrats!!! Would you happen to be at Natchez State Park? Man that lake was a beast back in the day. I got my first 9 from there in 1993 and caught 30 lb sacks all the time. The Mississippi State Record of 18.05 was caught there on I think New Year's Eve of 1992 or 1993. Killed off the grass and it got really difficult.
