people act like brushpiles are a slot machine and always produce. Even if they are there he still has to catch them and land them. He still has to catch bigger fish than the rest.

I lived in South Georgia for several years, and we used to put out brush piles quite often (as did many others). We always tried to put brush on places that were already fairly good spots to catch bass (points, creek channels, humps, etc.).

Heck, my buddy had a large jon boat that he used almost exclusively for planting brush.

I now live on Cedar Creek Lake... so there will soon be some new brush piles here!

I kinda agree at that level they shouldn't plant brush piles but some people also like deer hunting in a high fence. To each their own

I guess some people think planting brush is a new thing. Guess what, a lot of the old timers in BASS were doing it many, many years ago.

Oh and there is not an Easter Bunny or Santa Claus, sorry to be the bearer of reality laugh

Crazy good comments on this topic but I wasn't anticipating it getting technical and somewhat serious. I am good with it all, especially if Edwin (or whoever) says on stage while hoisting the CLASSIC trophy that he won because he planted the best brush piles and it wasn't the xyz worm or abc crank bait that did it for him.

In my initial post I was hinting that lots of brush is planted at all levels of competition and has been done for years but no one really mentions it too much on stage while being handed the big check and trophy.

Never planted any but I'll fish ones dock owners put around their docks. Did you not read the part of comment that says "...at that level.."? I just prefer watching those elite anglers fish the lake as it is. Notice on this comment also it says "I just prefer..."

Of course everyone fishes brush piles. I'm sure he isn't from Mars. That's not the question. The question is about the morality and fairness of planting multiple brush piles in strategic spots and marking them for your personal benefit prior to fishing tournaments whether big or small and the trickle down effect of this being exercised.

Let's give a scenario. You have 20 dollars and you have to wager that 20 dollars on Fisherman A or Fisherman B. Who do you wager that 20 dollars on given the details below prior to the tournement?

Fisherman A has not planted any brush piles and is purely fishing the lakes natural state and conditions.

Fisherman B planted 100 hundred brushpiles strategically and marks them so he knows exactly where they are located.

My answer would be Fisherman B. Why? Because he has a clear advantage over Fisherman A. Despite the outcome or rules he clearly has an advantage come tournement time because he planted 100 brush piles and he knows exactly where they are.

Evers planted tons rock piles on Red River for both Classics. Didn't quite work out. But a lot of people also throw crawfish in there brush piles!

See. I'd put my money on "A" because he is confident and probably already has 100 waypoints from successfully fishing that lake. Or, maybe, "A" has already planted his brush piles and nobody observed him doing so...

Who even knows if he is gonna fish the brush he has planted during the classic? During his practice days before the classic he may find that the bass aren't relating to the brush piles he put out and he may resort to a different pattern to catch his fish.

Planting brush piles is a good metaphor for life...... effort = reward.
