Hey guys, looking for some help

My dad, brother, and a group of other guys canoe/kayak the lower mountain fork a few times a year. We stay in cabins and buy groceries to take up there.

We are looking for a new place to go. Something comparable to the LMF as far as fishing is concerned, that's the main reason we are there. None of us really enjoy Rapids, but we can handle the ones on the LMF. What are some places within 5 hours of DFW where we can fish, drink, stay in a nice cabin at a decent price

Good campsites, but no cabins--will look for something else also.

Limestone Bluffs Paddling trail/Navasota River/ Lake Mexia

The track would be "Tears in the Rain" by Joe Satriani.

I'll add the Upper Guad: http://tpwd.texas.gov/fishboat/boat/paddlingtrails/inland/upper_guadalupe/

Thanks, that guy has some good kayak videos usually accompanied by guitar-centric instrumentals.

You should look in Arkansas. A couple really good choices are the Caddo River near Glenwood. Or the Ouachita River near Mt Ida. Mt Ida is right at 5 hrs from Dallas and Glenwood is about 45 min - 1 hr closer. Good scenery, clear water, good numbers for smallmouth.

Guadalupe River near New Braunfels, TX. Land some trout, paddle down a meandering freshwater stream among gorgeous Cypress trees. Very few and relatively tame rapids.
