I ran across this in the classifieds. Just curious if anyone else had ever tried constantly beating on the floor of their boat to attract fish. I honestly can't say that I've ever tried, or that it had even occurred to me to try. Seems legit tho.

Striper/sandbass fishermen do it all the time. Many swear by it. You can now buy comercial "sound boxes" to mimic the sound. Kind of like a Hydro Wave but instead of picking "feeding shad" sound you pick "beat the side of your boat with a paddle" mode. :-)

I went fishing with JD Lyle a few weeks ago on Tawakoni for stripers/hybries, He was beating the boat with broom handle, I assume he knows what he is doing.
For bass fishing beating on the boat does nothing from what I have seen, noise doesn't effect bass one way or the other.
What gets them is if they can see you casting, they scare away on that....

Now the striper guys put a like 40lb Trolling motor with a special looking prop that makes splashing sound and it at water level,

Haven't seen it in a while but there was some older guys on toledo that would troll around for white perch. I don't know if they saw a school on the graph or what but they would beat the water with their rod tips every so often. My grandpa did this too and it always seemed to work.

It works....watch your graph when you do it. The fish will come right up and start feeding. I've had days where they wouldn't bite until the beating started

I've had days where they wouldn't bite until the beating started At my house there are days that the bite(dinner) does not get started until the beatings begin. OK, that sounded politically incorrect(hey, it's me getting beat)!

Lol well it's good to hear there is some support for the concept. Now how many of you would be willing to pay $275 for a 12v battery hooked up to a rubber mallet and a variable speed motor? Especially considering, that by most accounts, a stick against the hull will do the job.

Dad used to carry a pail of gravel in the boat. When the crappie bite slowed down, he would take a couple of handfuls of gravel and throw then into the lake, I guess to mimic fish feeding...it worked sometimes, and sometimes not.
