I've been trying to just catch fish since the water muddy and high and bass fishing has been bad so I've been trying to get into the hybrid. Found baitfish all over the lake. Marking fish in 20-25' range in 35' of water. Couldn't figure how to catch them then I dropped down rod with crappie jig and boom. Started catching them kinda decent for short bursts. But prob only a couple have been keepers and rest is dinks for hybrid. Will this pattern just not work? Do the larger ones stay together? Any advice on what to change? I've dead sticked flukes. Used slabs and various spoons but the little crappie jig is only thing I've got hit on.

Keep upsizing your plastics...if we catch a few drinks in the same spot, we move

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

I've been hearing the fish are sometimes hitting the smaller baits more lately. Guess I'll have to dig out my box of baby slabs and jigs I never use.

Smaller the better, these fish are feeding on small shad.

Some days I have to hit them in the face with the bait to draw a strike! Try locating your bait on the graph and placing it in there face to 1' above them. Allot of times I will drop it just below them and raise the rod tip to move the lure up through them and bam!
