Yes I never wanted to get into pouring my own from the start and never thought about it again! I love the colors and designing and yes the artist qualities of tying!

I am not familiar with the little mold that you are using, all mine are Do-It brand. I can usually make 200-400 heads in one "session", before I have to stop & take a break.

I don't mind pouring. I don't do it often because I try to pour a whole box of hooks at a time, or 1000 in one sitting. If I didn't have my own jig head design, I would probably buy from a vendor, usually Tim White.
That's a nice looking mold. Hard to tell from the picture, but it looks like the mold isn't closing flat, allowing that flash. You may need to modify where the hook sets in the mold. It looks like you could benefit from a good gate cutter, I use Xcelite.

Good eye Kenny! Had too do a lot of modifying, just to get the hook sitting rite in the mold. The excess shears rite off bare handed.

For any of you who wants to do your own are for other people the best molds are put out by Jacobs molds and Machine. The do-it molds are made by casting and Jacobs are machine made. The do-it all run heavy on the lead weight and Jacob run light. Just a matter of what you like. They both can be had online.

Try the Do-It molds, before you call it quit's on pouring your own jigheads.

I pour thousands a month,yea it is a major pain, but once everything is right, makes the work a bit easier. Poured 1500 this afternoon, but sure wears a person out!

I own 1, poured a few today on my no roll mold

I have the 1/32oz & 1/16oz round, no collar & the 1/8oz Shad Dart, all Li'l Mack's & they're fine little mold's. I found though, using the Matzuo hooks I got more flash around the head & down the hook because the hook diameter is slightly too large. I tried the Eagle Claw Little Nasties and ZERO flash. Just that slight difference in shank diameter made all the difference.

Pepop, I have been working on a idea to do a head for plastic jig fishing and to use on some of my own ties for my self. This is something that does not need to be on the market. What it is to put the head on wire like we use to make the small spinner baits. Then the wire would be tied in on the hook and leave the whole head in front of the jig eye. It would be the same as the pin and bead head if anyone has ever done them. For real its fly tying on a jig hook, But do you think the little mac would be ok for doing this. The whole idea is to get weight forward to try to keep the tail of jig higher than the head. Thanks

Pepop, I found my answer the hole for the jig eye would have to be stopped up are I would have a leak. Thanks will look at this a little more. I have done many a mold making them bigger, but have never tried to stop a hole. Anyone have any idea what would stay at 700 degrees?
