Download the Navionics app to you tablet or PC. Really handy. Between it and google earth, you're set.

Here's what Navionics looks like (Ferguson Point-RC). It's great for scouting new lakes. You can get exact waypoints of potential spots. Definitely worth the download.

The double numbers are the depth of the water. The river channel is visible...the tight gradients between depths.

you can get hot spot contour maps from Bass Pro, Cabelas, or check local bait. They have a chart you can use to gauge how deep the water is in that area. I had to get someone to show me how to read the water depth and it helped a lot especially on planning out fishing trips. Here is the website to see if they have the lake you are wanting. www.fishinghotspots.com
If that doesn't work the navionics app is good. Hopefully this helps

Thanks guys, both of these places look good. Our lakes are getting old and filling in and washing out, after this year we will all be learning when they move back in.

Look in the bottom right corner and change the depth to NM from Kilometers.
