I have some of the Heddon Tiny Torpedos that are 1/4 ounce and 1 7/8" long. I mostly use these in tight cover and I've also used them to get finicky bass to bite.

I've been using a 6' 6" medium/fast spinning rod to throw these but I'm wondering if that's the right rod. The rod I was using broke on my last trip and I'm wondering if a 6' medium/fast or 6' 8" medium/extra fast (Wacky Style rod) would be better?

What do you guys think?

Spinning rod for sure with 20-25 pound braid.

I use a 7 ft medium action baitcast rod for this type of bait.

I use a 6'8" medium/moderate baitcasting rod and mono line. I prefer the moderate action over fast or extra fast. It helps if I react to a strike too quick and fighting a fish. I would have no problem using the same thing in a spinning rod.

I like Powell rods for moving baits in general, but I really like this model rod for finesse cranks and jerkbaits. Find them on sale at TW for cheap. I'm not very accurate with the weenie pole (and don't enjoy people seeing me out in public with one).

6'- 6'6" med-fast, spinning rod, shorter rod lets you work the bait better by getting the rod tip closer to you and the water. I use 20# power pro, with about a 2 feet 10# mono leader with a very small swivel to join the lines.
Mono to me is much better than straight braid because it won't bunch up in front of the lure when popped or jerked across the water.

Did the 6'6" med/fast spinning rod work well for you? If so then you had the right rod!

G.Loomis Mossyback 802 JWR works like a charm for small topwaters like a Pop-R and should shoot a Tiny Torpedo like a bullet.
