Has anyone ever had a hard time getting their Point 1 to calibrate? I have tried multiple times and when I select calibrate and make the rotation like it says on the screen, after about 4-5 minutes it comes back and says calibration timed out. I thought it may be something with the paticulat graph that I had it hooked to so I tried calibrating from the other graph with the same results. I guess my next thing will be to get on the water and call Lowrance support.

I assume you are going the correct speed and turning the right direction? I installed calibrated mine with no issues. I know the smoother the water the better...

I'm turning between 2-3 degrees to the right and maintaining that course. I just watched the video and that's how I did it.

I'm going to go back out tomorrow and try again. Thanks for posting the FAQ sheet.

Maybe check to make sure your network is set to read from the a point 1.
Settings>network>chart (I think)
I hooked mine up and followed the on screen instructions and it worked fine. It should be simple for you so maybe something is hooked up wrong.

Also double check you have 12V to your NMEA network. My ground wire came loose and the PT1 quit working.

. This ^^^ Had to fix a boat awhile back when the guy had his Point 1 mounted too close to the trolling motor bracket.

Thanks for all of the input guys. I discovered that it was indeed mounted too close the the trolling motor. When I put the tm in the water then it calibrated fine. As soon as I pulled it back up it would mess my heading line up due to the metal trolling motor. I set the console unit to local and it's working ok now. I can use the point 1 when I'm trolling which is what I wanted for drop shotting. Do most people get a second point 1 for the stern or just use the internal gps?

Since your point one is on the nose. Use it for your trolling but use your rear internal. When I set a boat up, I put the point one back by the rear side imaging transducer. The front graph is basically on top of its transducer. I use its internal GPS but use the point one for compas. This allows it to pull signal from the front but always knows where the nose of the boat it.
