I have read several posts about fishing below the dam and was wondering the best place to park and fish. I think I read that some of the RV parks give day passes but wanted to get some input from those who have done it. Planning a trip in a few weeks and I was trying to get an idea of where to fish and park?

TPWD contracts with a few places along the river. Check their website. Whitewater amphitheater is right on 306 and has good wading access when the flow is is manageable. They have the contract, but you have to get there early as there is a limit to licensed fishers. Otherwise you pay a fee. L&L campground has great bank access with a mile of frontage for a daily fee. Rio raft has good wading access for a fee. Those 3 places will get you started. Bring a wading staff and check the flows. I was there yesterday and the flow was around 400cfs. It was manageable but slick with deep ruts I'm the limestone. I also went when it was over 600 and I wouldn't advise it. Good news is that it fished well yesterday.

Here's a link to a list of free trout fishing spots along the lower Guadalupe. Rio Raft is free for the 1st 10 people per day. I have not fished it yet, but it is in the trophy trout zone, so may be worth it if you want to catch a big one.
