The lake has been devastated this year due to the flooding. Last year, at least a third of the posts on this forum were about Texoma. It's rare now to see one.

If you're not fishing below the dam at night December thru March, you're missing some good striper fishing.

Two years for sheer numbers, 5 years for sizes. With no shad kills in winter, no floods, no 3,000 degree water in summer. Other than that, sandies & catfish are good.

All I can say is Lake Texoma is a one of a kind lake and I have never seen anyone make accurate predictions about the future. I'm with Chris on the lake traffic. There will also be less wanna be guides on the lake.

Also less customers. How did your summer go? LOL Pk there are fewer post because they are catching fewer fish, because there are fewer people willing to pay $500 to catch fewer fish. Common sense.

My summer was good. I have been guiding for over 20 years and I learned a long time ago not to put all my eggs in one basket. Texoma has always been up and down and probably always will be.

I think you are right Ruff. I did catch one a couple weeks ago crappie fishing at 377 but the crappie were gone from the bridge. I thought I'd wait for the water to clear and maybe try again but that does not look too promising. 60 days until the first of march. Maybe things will settle out by then.

It's possible that lake a lot better than we letting out even with flooded muddy conditions. Most humans turn to the dark side quick but it's been very nice to have all the traffic gone. It's also possible that people will offer opinions on subjects they know NOTHING about posts like this are one of many reasons we don't post often. Happy new year everyone!

Lol..... Good point Chris. The solid guide have so many repeat customers they hardly ever have to post for business. They would rather tell you the fishing sucks and go somewhere else. They are still loading the boat with customers and fish.

The lake has been devastated this year due to the flooding. Last year, at least a third of the posts on this forum were about Texoma. It's rare now to see one. I dont think the lake has been DEVASTATED. Now in 2001 PK was devastated from the golden algae, at least from a fishing standpoint, non fishing activities it was business as usual. Sure the flooding has cost Lake Texoma merchants big time but there has not been a fish kill and all the fish did not go over the spillway or out the flood gates. When the flooding stops and the water warms the fishing will improve drastically.

Chris I was not trying to be ugly. I love your post. You are honest and tell people like it is. I just don't like people griping about boat traffic on any lake. The guys like you and JD and a few others are honest, and I know it gets hard to make a living when the lake goes thru what it has. Statements like Texoma has been devastated and all the fish went out the gates drive me crazy. Please keep posting and letting us weekend anglers see that Texoma is alive and well. The fish are there it is just like it has always been, you have to find them, find what the are hitting and catch them. Remember, "it is fishing not catching". Have a great year!!! Oh by the way, there ARE lots of guides not posting because they are catching fish, like you do. PS. Been fishing Texoma since 1980.
