Are these good reels? My boss got me a gently used one and I can't find much about them. Also it's on a G-Loomis CBR781 / 6'6" MED-LIGHT MOD-FAST ACTION Crankbait rod.

Excellent reel...does well with boca bearings and carbon drag washers Thank you for the input. This is my first "higher end" reel. I wasnt aware there were upgrades available for them.

I really like the feel of them...maybe one day I will pull the trigger on one...that's the beauty of servicing reels I get to check them all out

He definitely did his research. He doesn't even freshwater fish. Only saltwater very rarely.

Im about to score 2 of these off ebay for ridiculously cheap. They just need cleaning and possibly a repair. Minimal boat rash and both have original boxes and paperwork! Gotta love ebay!!

Are those the ones that are really sought after? Or is it the previous model?

In working condition they still sell on ebay from anywhere to $140 to $190 depending on condition. Thats pretty dang good considering they cost $250 when new back in like 02 or 03 whenever they came out.

Yeah I bought them with the intention of fixing and re selling them. I was gonna ask $160 ea on here. I looked at sold listings on ebay and these things are selling on there in good condition, which these will be once im done with them, for anywhere from $180 to a little over $200. So I think that's pretty fair. I did think about keeping one for myself though but really need the money for formula and diapers for the baby.
I've already tore them down. Needed new main gear and pinion gear on both and upgrading the drag washer to carbontex drag washers. A good cleaning after that and they will be good to go.

I believe the 100MG's are the one's that have a cult following. I have one with upgraded bearings and Kevlar drag washers, two original ones. I rarely use them anymore, that are in great working condition, scuffed up (finish wasn't very durable), original boxes. Would consider offers?
