I saw 48 in places Tuesday. 55 yesterday.

Yep...had a buddy tell me about 48 in spots yesterday early in the morning.

The deep migration is fixing to start. Muddy shallow water, no grass to filter, and the lakes rising. Sad sad day t-rexy

I sure hope so. I'm a deep water fisherman. When I'm shallow, I feel like I'm just trying to get lucky. Maybe I need luck lol. But I want to be deep when hey finally do move out there, maybe they're just not there yet, I dunno.

I may try the east side of the lake next, never been on that arm. Needmore ect. The river channel looks good over there, but I rarely hear anything from hat side of the lake.

I fished that side 2 weeks ago for 2 days straight. Concentrated on Bear Creek, Devils Ford & McKim & Easley Flats .......
NADA ,,,,, NOTHING ,,,, HEAD BANGING ,,,,, etc etc.
did catch a few 2 pounders in Tiger Creek on Beetle Spins.

The river over by Needmore and that arm of the lake should be cooled off pretty good.

That's what I'm looking for, cooler water. Around the 147 bridge it's 60*

I fished Rayburn yesterday (Wednesday Dec 30th). I too tried catching them deep first thing in the morning. I caught two on a 10XD early and then went shallow. Ended up catching over 30 bass in the 1'-9' range. It's VERY difficult to find the deeper fish right now, but many people are saying that when/if you find a school out deeper they will be the quality of fish to win torunaments. Just takes hours of searching with your electronics.

If you're not trying to win a tourney and just want your rod tugged on a bunch of times then buy a bag of V&M Baby Swamp Hogs and throw it to the edge of the bay grass, which is literally EVERYWHERE you go. We caught one over 5# last week in the shallow hay grass but have yet to catch a real toad that shallow so I don't expect to win Bass Champs in a couple of weeks.

As far as the hay grass is concerned, you'll likely catch singles or doubles here and there. Just keep moving and when you catch one, slow down and see if they are stacked in there. I found two spots yesterday where they were stacked like crazy and caught about 10-12 out of each spot and then only scattered fish elsewhere.

I didn't find that they were deep in the hay grass at all. Almost all of my bites came at the edge. However, it was mostly cloudy yesterday so that made sense. It may be different when the sun is bright.

I've tried and tried finding a school out deep. All I can say is that if we get any really nasty fronts that cool the water down enough to push those fish off the hay grass then I'm screwed for Champs.

I'm going back next week to fish four brush piles that we dropped a month ago. If they are there then I'll have a deep option for Champs. Other than that, I will have to hope my padna finds them out deep this weekend.

I'd like to just show up to he weigh in tomorrow to see what a decent fish looks like! I'm gonna live or die deep. No point in me fishing shallow for 10-15lbs. Hero or zero, just more than likely gonna be a zero lol. Good luck to you Bryan and thanks for the report. Maybe one of us will luck up on some deep fish between now and then.
