So I am thinking about selling my rigged FS12T and putting that money towards a new Ascend H12. Since this Veteran has gotten fat and happy since coming off of active duty the H12 would definitely be beneficial with it's larger weight capacity, plus it's a little lighter. The new H12 is retailing at $699, and I was thinking about selling my kayak for $500 since it will come with the FF. Thoughts?

Sounds like a good deal to me. Those FS12T are a real pain in the wind with how high they sit in the water. And more weight capacity never hurts either!

Looked at the H12 today, looks like a sweet ride. Would like to see some reviews. Sure looks comfy.

Generally, either people buy an Ascend, find out they don't like kayak fishing or don't have time for it and sell it....or they buy an Ascend kayak, realize they really like kayak fishing and want to upgrade. Sounds like you're in the second grouping. I bought a used FS128T and that was a fantastic entry level boat for me to find out if this is something I wanted to continue to pursue...I dig the hell out of kayak fishing...so like you...my Ascend is up for sale shortly.

Luckily, my amazing, wonderful, thoughtful, gorgeous, generous, and loving wife (hey, she might be reading this ya know? ) surprised me with a used 2015 Jackson Big Rig for Christmas...it was the biggest surprise gift i've ever received.

So, I guess my thought is...put that thing on the market...figure out what you're looking for in your next boat and go after it. All hobbies are expensive if you get into them enough...if this is your chosen hobby, then find the next shiny object that is going to make you excited to get back out.

Best of luck and tight lines!

As much as I would like to sell it I cannot jump into that just yet. I definitely need something bigger or with more capacity like the FS128T or H12T. I wouldn't be able to put much money along with what I make from selling mine to get a better one. I would LOVE a Jackson or even a Slayer, but with a baby on the way that isn't an option.

Sorry rhino, I think I made my point very poorly. By no means was I saying to get a jackson or something along those lines....just that it sounds like you've already identified a kayak that might be a better fit and it sounds like you really enjoy kayak fishing enough to contemplate the upgrade. If it's financially feasible to make it happen by selling your fs12t, then rock on good sir!!

No problem! And I am still thinking about it haha. Good thing is I am moving soon and won't be on the water much to I will have a lot of "thinking" time.

We seem to have a lot in common Rhino. I'm on a tight budget as well. The price of the fs12t was my whole reason for getting it. It's not as nice as many of the kayaks out there, but it gets me where I need to go and I catch fish out of it. Good luck with the baby! My first arrived 4 months ago. They're a blast!

Thank you sir! It's been a great yak, I just out grew it. I will be moving to Benbrook in January so maybe we can get on the water sometime.

I've had my FS12 since September and love it , what other kayak can you get for that price that is steady enough that you can stand and cast from in the bay or lake. The only thing I would trade it for would be the FS128 and that is only because of the larger storage ports.

Prices for the used Ascends seem to be stable. Hang on to it, and put a few bucks back each check until you have enough to get what you want. Meanwhile, keep an eye on the classifieds to see if an H12 shows up at your price. I want a Jackson Cuda 12. One showed up in a classified ad at a great price. I just don't have the money right now, so I'll wait, and hope it happens again.
