My dad and I are planning a trip. We are hoping someone can help us with the best time to go. We would like to go when the fish would be on beds. Thank you in advance.

Late feb to early March has been my best bed fishing there.

Varies from year to year. I have hit the spawn in April more times than March. Just depends how cold of winter they get.

several years ago I was a marshall for the elite series tournament on Amistad. I believe it was in late February. the entire tournament was held with temps in the 30's and sleet the first morning. the pros did find a few on beds, but not many. during the practice period before the tournament, the temps were in the 70's and 80's and fish were on beds all over the lake.

I guess the best answer to your question would be to watch the forecast for that region, and try to pick a time in late Feb/early March when the temps have been warm for several days.

good luck!

Not the best bed fishing lake..
Might start as early as Feb 1st or be good in May
Other thing is they normally don't stay on the beds long.. Have seen many times there would be beds everywhere one week and empty the next.
