My 11 year old found this green snake down by the lake yesterday, and managed to get a pic of it smiling. I thought it was kinda funny and worth a share.

Rough Green Snake. We used to have them in our privet hedges in Arlington.

The green coloring is a dead-giveaway to their preferred natural settings: typically up high in bushes and trees . . . where they blend into the background.

Mine could be a bit aggressive at times. Great snakes for eating bugs.

Awesome shot! They tend to be very bitey from my dealing with them.

Best of luck, Scott

Always called them grass snakes and always had to chase them down and catch them to play with. Don't see them much these days.
