OH Ivie has been at 12.6% full for a solid month. How is that possible? There hasn't been any rain or any evaporation at that lake in 30 days???

I was there last week, Jerry said they are getting more rain this year than normal but not in the right places or enough at one time to do anything more than maintain the current water level.

You have to look at the lake's actual watershed. Unless the rain falls in just the right spots, the lake ain't going anywhere.

The reason it's not dropping is the is a small flow of water coming in from the concho, it seems to get smaller everyday but I have been watching it everyday for about 6 weeks. You can see the flow as you cross over the concho bridge, I think it's just enough to maintain the lake level.

It is so hard to believe but absolutely possible that the Concho has not received any rain since all of the floods started in May. Amazing how every river in the state is flooding it's banks and Ivie can't get a drop. Weird.

It received rain but those slow soaking rains don't do much for run off, we caught 6-7 ft of water during that time but it has since been pumped out. The lake is really starting to look bad again and the future isn't very bright.

Good example? Well, O H Ivie!

We haven't had the rain everybody else has got in a LONG time, not just this year. If you think we have pull up ivie, Spence, c-city lake, twin buetts, champion, Sweetwater, phantom, or Hubbard creek, and look at how low all of these lakes got. People around Dallas freak out when their lakes are -10ft. Nearly every lake on that list is still over 10ft low. Phantom is full as of last week, from scalping the brazos river. Been years since it was full.
The drought killed a lot of central/west tx lakes. They didn't just get low they went dry or hit record lows. Takes lots and lots of rain in the right spots.

I pull my hair out, I live next to the pump station and hear it running all the time. CRMWD cares nothing about the lake, all they care about is selling water-$$$$$. They have said they would pump it dry and I believe they intend to do so.

I believe that 21xs. All CRMWD cares about is selling water. When I lived in Odessa, I heard them say that they were not rationing water because it would be lost to evaporation anyway so they were going to sell it and the cities would then rely on well water they secured from various sources.

There have been no real water rationing efforts / consequences in Midland. CRMWD is in the water selling business, until they have no water left to sell.

Everyone says it has a small drainage area but I don't think that is the case. I read it drains over 3K square miles. The problem is that the area is very rural and there isn't much concrete or pavement to create runoff like the DFW lakes have. Plus, that 3K square miles is probably full of thirsty Cedar trees. If I could, I would love to give you a 100K acre feet from Grapevine. I think it is at 3x its normal capacity. Just don't tell the local government officials...we still got watering restrictions in effect.

As a midlander, there have been efforts to Conserve. We have very strict watering schedules. Last I heard, it was 2 days a week from 6:30 pm-6:30 a.m. Hand watering only. Other than people who have water wells, most people's yards are brown and bare. BUT with a huge influx of people who come into this area, we definitely consume and probably waste a lot of water because people don't know or care where it comes from. They just consume it.
