Hi...stupid questions. Why do we mount the transducer on Starboard Side but not on port side and if I mounted two transducers on each side will that cause any interference? I looked at some boats at Bass Pro and it's mounted on the Starboard side. I'm just curios that's all. I have the humminbird 1198c and 559c. 1198 it's mounted on the console and the transducer is mounted on Starboard Side. Now I wanted to mount my 596c next to the console. So if i mounted my other transducer on port side will that interfere with the one on Starboard side? 596c is down imaging and 1198c is a combo. Again just asking before I start installing the 596c. I'm about to upgrade my trolling motor to minn kota ulterra so that comes with a factory installed 2D sonar transducer. But why only 2D sonar and not down imaging? Thanks ladies and gentlemen.

A transducer can be at any location along the hull bottom as long as there is no hull feature forward of it that will cause cavitation.
The SI transducer will "see" the DI transducer.
Both units will get cross-talk since both use the same frequencies.
Trolling motor built-in transducers are 2D only. It is what it is.

Port side mounting not recommended due to excessive turbulence caused by right hand prop rotation.

Port side mounting not recommended due to excessive turbulence caused by right hand prop rotation. Partially true but ONLY for an inboard craft. For outboard craft the prop does not affect any water passing over the transducer unless the motor is in reverse. Water coming off the hull passes over the transducer before the prop affects the water.

Trackers have them on the port side since 2012:

My Tracker Targa V-18 combo transducer is on Starboard side however my pontoon was on port side. So I was curious what different does that make. Thanks
