My hummingbird 1199sihd worked fine the last time we fished. I tried to power it up today to add some waypoints and it would turn on, but freeze up displaying the bird. I gave it a while and nothing. I couldn't turn it off. I had to pull the fuse to turn it off. It's only a few months old. I'm thinking about taking to the dealer for repair. Any suggestions?

How is it powered?. To. A fuse panel or straight to battery. Make sure the cable collector is plugged in all the way. Mine did the same thing a few weeks back, was the cable collector.

Sounds like the operating system is corrupted in my opinion. Call humminbird tech support. They're real good at helping. Call early as soon as they're opened.

That symptom is typically due to low voltage.

It is installed in a new boat. The power comes of a power bar under the console. It has been in the weather with the protective cover on. It worked fine on last fishing trip. It has had 10 plus inches poured on it in the last month or so. The battery voltage is good. I think the software is corrupted. I don't see any loose connections. I spent a couple hours troubleshooting the problem and came to the conclusion that there needs to be a switch to power of the unit. I'm frustrated now. The boat and Finder are under warranty. I going to make it fun and suns problem to repair. Thanks for you suggestion! I appreciate the help.

If possible ask fun n sun to run the 1199 power directly to the cranking battery, the factory installs are not adequate for the new electronics to share power with other accessories on a fuse panel. one more thing to try is to take the power lead to a battery that you know is good and see if that makes any difference

Just an update. Contacted Hummingbird. They had me check the voltage as many of you suggested. The voltage was good. They said it had to be sent in for repair. Waiting on its return.
While crawling around boat troubleshooting found transom bolts loose and gel coat cracked. I took the boat in for repair.
