Can you catch Flatheads in the winter? Thought it would be something to try since there aren't any boats on the lake anymore. To me they are the best fish to eat, right up there with crappie.

Have you ever caught them when it's cold? Are they in the deepest water available like the shad & crappie? Or are they home bodies that hunt the same area year round?

Have caught them in the Creeks. Not real big guys, just nice eating size. Fresh gizzard shad, have always caught them about noon. On them nice West Texas 70 degree days.

I'd Tack That!!

Caught some up to 20 lbs in the creeks.
Caught a 18lb fish one year on a crappie minnow and 6 lb test.

A buddy of mine caught these out of the Colorado River a few days ago. Biggest one on the right was 30 lbs, next biggest was 23 lbs.
