Man what a day.
Not only was the fact i didn't have to work great, The weather was ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!
So i called Fishboy Frank and told him we needed to do our annual end of year trip a week early and i met him at the boat ramp at Harbor Bay on Christmas eve. There was only one other boat show up and when we left i was the only one on the parking lot.
Any way got the boat in the water and we headed south. The fishing was slow from about 8 am until noon. We ran into Jeff Craft and he fished by us until he had to go in and do family stuff. It was hard fishing because between three of us there were only 6 fish caught.
Well about 10 minutes after Jeff left , Hubbard opened the barn door and the biggest school of fish i have seen for a while came under the boat. And all heck broke loose. We were getting slammed. We were catching some GIANT sand bass and we were missing 3 to every one we caught. Then it happened, I snagged something that was pulling drag . Yes i hooked a 20 inch hybrid. LOL then not 10 minutes later it happened again except this one was 22 inches with a 16 inch sand bass on the other lure. I thought for a minute i had the lake record it was pulling so hard
Thirty minutes later i hooke another hybrid 19 1/2 inches so i was up to 3 legals. we also got 3 under sized hybs too. What really got me was all the HUGE sand bass we got. There were 10 of them 16 inches and i got a sand bass that was 17 inches OMG i have never seen one that big on hubbard.
We caught fish every where we moved and it was a great way to end the year. We only kept the gut hooked and the giant sand bass. And i kept two of the big Hybrid for Christmas day dinner . So we ended up catching over sixty fat sand bass and six hybrids total. Dead sticking is turning on.
Frank and I were having a great time we both have been slammed at work so this was our time to let loose. Frank Thanks for going with me it was just what the Dr. ordered.
Here are some pics.
