Does anyone own this reel? Does it really cast rigs from 2.0gram 1/16oz as stated in the Aldebaran BFS XG Limited add.

I have one on order. It's held up in customs. if it ever gets here I'll let you know how it performs. Plan on setting up a super finesse type rig.

I have one.The Spool is very shallow. You can basically empty the Spool when casting the reel.I use 6lb.Sunline.It is an awesome finesse reel.I wouldn't take for mine.

I'd like to first point out that I am a huge Shimano fan and love my Aldebaran HGs... That being said, besides the tensioner knob being relocates(which I think is cool), I don't see the point. I think the stock Aldebaran is plenty capable of the same feats if using the proper rod? Not trying to steal the thread, I am genuinely interested just not sure I get the purpose. Thanks for the info and Merry Christmas.

I have set ups that will handle very light baits as well. I have a Dobyns Extreme 701 with a Core. I picked up another Dobyns in 742 and needed a reel wanting a Core I found the Aldebaran BFS XG. I figured I would put the Core on the 742 and the Aldebaran on the 701. With this reel being advertised as a finesse extreme reel designed for very light baits and the 701 being a light action rod I am hoping the two paired together will be a good match. Will not need a lot of line on the reel for vertical drop shot or slightly larger than crappie jigs. Plan on putting 6 to 8lb Tatsu line on the reel. With the shallow spool will not need backing to get 3 or 4 reel fills on a 200 yard spool. Basically I just needed a new reel.
