There's virtually nothing on this site regarding Sheldon reservoir other than a post warning people about the criminal element around there. I've lived in the Houston are and have never been there and know very little about it and have never been there. I've always wondered what the deal was with that pond, though.

fish there often -- it close and i take my 80 year old father there just to get him some fishing time -- there are some big fish in there --caught a 7lb last year --lot of vegetation cypress etc.
also some HUGE gators
the boat ramp there is the craziest thing youve ever seen but will handle full size boat

also if you look on fishingscout.com you will find some recent reports ---about the only place you will find anything on sheldon that is current

There were some good bass in there back then. Shallow water and you are not allow to run above no wake speed. There is a channel that goes through it and there is some deeper water along there. And yes quite a few gators.....

I grew up within minutes of there and spent lots of time fishing it. There can be decent bass and crappie fishing at times. The ramp is weird and you do need to be sure to lock up your ride before you take off.

I was over there last week buying minnows ( only place around that sells by the lb.) Ramp had 8-10 boat trailers in it and lots of salvinia all over the trailers. Dont know why they spend all the money at the park up the road, but wont add any lighting or anything to that ramp. And its a crazy ramp, but I have never had problems with truck or SUV getting my old heavy boat out. I caught 2 9lbers there a few years ago and saw personally a 30+ bag come out of there on time during a night tourney which is not ran any longer. Best in spring before all the veg grows up, any bite can be a 8lber in there, catch lots of 4s and 5s.

snuck out this morning for a little santa fishing !
lake is great shape caught 10 in 3 hours
had to get back home before misses santa got pissed
wacky senkos for most of them
