This has been a good thread !!!
Lots of different viewpoints and lots of different lakes that people dislike for various reasons.
suggestion: those that like a like invite someone that doesn't to go fishing on it and show them why they should like it.
Translation: someone that knows Rayburn please invite me so I can learn to catch fish there. LOL

I am seeing a pattern here I have thought about in the years past. I grew up fishing Rayburn and it is my confidence lake, sort of speak. Just wish it was not 2 hrs away. I hate Fork but am in the process of figuring it out, I think. It is my understanding Fork fishes like Toledo but I have not fished Toledo much. Plus growing up I have always met Toledo guys and Rayburn guys and almost none of them like the other lake. Reminds me of Ford vs Chevy. Having said that the pattern I see is fishing styles. Some people like or have learned to fish a certain way and they tend to seek out the lake or lakes that match that pattern or style of fishing. If you are good at Rayburn then you are probably not good at Fork or Toledo and vise versa. Unless you are a well rounded angler which I am not...... "yet" I hope. I am sure this could be applied to other lakes. Just my 2 cents.

Striker....
22 degrees one morning, 46 degree water temp, bumped a stump and lost my balance. Fell out(feet first) into waist deep water. Finally crawled back in the boat,headed up the lake, and took a wave over the bow. Lost cap and sunglasses. WON'T go back...

I am sure this could be applied to other lakes. Just my 2 cents. I think you are correct...... Wednesday the 23rd we fished Sam & had a horrible day,,,,,,that's the reason I started this thread. Saturday the 26th we fished Toledo Bend and had an absolutely incredible day & it was only the second time I had ever fished Toledo in my life. ("Lee",,,the Fin & Feather is a great place to fish out of, stay & eat)We fished Toledo as we would Fork or even Fayette and really had an easy time getting on fish and having a fun day. Love the Toledo Bend "terraces".

I don't like Athens........when do we need to set up a trip? LOL I really do like Athens but would like to meet you there sometime and fish the lake.

Lewisville. However it could become a good lake here in the next few years thanks to the floods aiding the spawns. This...Same thing at Grapevine. Incredible spawn this year.

I hate Livingston. Im 15 minutes from it but will drive 45 to Rayburn or 1 hour 45 to Toledo before I fish Livingston. I concur wholeheartedly. I live on that nasty [censored] hole and drive to Rayburn or T Bend.
