Will a 80lb 24 volt trolling motor be good enough for a 22ft boat?

Not for me. 36 volt. in our kind of wind is a must have.

you can for awhile but not if it is windy. Like they say 36v systems draw less amps and last longer. Big wind or currents will wear them down to after a while.

You can fish twice as long on a 36v system than a 24v system, I would bet. The new 36v systems are so easy on the batts.

My boat is 21' 9" and have 36v. IMO you need a 36v.

I can't believe someone hasn't come on here and pointed out the fact you'll be adding an additional 34.26lbs which will cause you to lose 1.976mph thus resulting in you getting to your first honey hole 52 seconds late which will ultimately cost you $12,618 in winnings in your next tournament.

I use to have 24v on my 22ft boat. went to 36v and will never go back. Also suggest a long shaft especially if your boat sits high.

If you are one of those that only fish out of the wind and fish real slow it will work. If you are spending your money to get a new one you will be better off with the 36 volt.

Depends on your needs and the boat. A 22 foot light weight boat like a Bullet and you can probably do pretty good. A normal 22 footer is going to be too heavy to move around in a big wind with 80 pounds thrust.
Get a 100 plus pound trolling motor for whatever conditions you come up against. If its not enough you'll know its the best there is.
I had a 101 Maxxum on my Allison for awhile. I went to an 80 and at times I still wish I had the extra oomph.

I had a 24v on my other boat and would often times run out of power during the day on just normal fishing days. I upgraded to the 36v and won't ever go back. Also, if you have a bad or low battery you still have enough from the other 2 to help keep going to finish the trip.
