Already got some ideas but wanna nail Christmas dinner prime rib. Any tips or suggestions welcomed. Can't decide if I wanna reverse sear and cook slow then hit with high heat or vice-versa for the crust. What say you? Serious answers only please.

I smoke them app. 60 minutes/pound at 250-300 degrees for a medium rare. Also noticed in today's paper that Albertson and Tom Thumb have USDA Choice standing rib roasts for $4.88 lb. with additional $10 purchase - a good deal.
