Years ago a friend made venison tamales and they were great. He's not with us anymore and I would like to get a recipe for them. Any ideas? I don't remember if they were made with ground meat or something else. I realize how difficult it is to shred deer meat. I would think maybe using a food processor.
Any recipes would be greatly appreciated and by many others i am sure.

They are the best, my wife's Mexican, her grandmother always asking me to shoot a deer for her.

I made them with ground venison. It's not easy getting your hands on a venison roast and I'd rather have that with gravy over rice. Treat the same as you would red chile beef.

Have never made venison but regularly make pork/chicken ones using the recipe from Son of The South website. They are great and am sure venison could be substituted for one or both of the meats.
