Hey guys, a friend of mine was asking which place is better for Gar fishing?

Trinity River at Thomas Richardson Park
OR
HAGGAR off Luna/635

What would you recommend for bait and is this a good time to fish for it?

Thanks.

Never fished any but Trinity. What kind of gar? I assume alligator? If so just use cut bait, I use cut carp quite a bit. If longnose, just get some nylon rope and fray it out, make a loop at the head and tie a split ring onto it and use that as a lure...teeth get tangled in it. Winter I have never had much luck, but they can still be caught, look for deep holes and pockets in the creek bottom, expect a slow bite.
