Went out this morning. I was all fired up with my new Moes Tackle deadstick baits and 3 weeks of vacation to chase. learn and find these fish. I left the house at 8 this morning after dropping the kiddo off at school. Headed out to Bridgeport and was ready for a day of fishing and hopefully catching. That's where it all went south.

I such at finding these fish. Doesn't seem to matter the season. I'm just not that good of a fisherman. So, I need some advice. If Bridgeport is your home lake, I am not asking for your secret spot. Just need some help analyzing the areas I chose and where I went wrong and where I should have looked. If you pros have navionics and can pull up the lake and give me an idea of where to start and why you chose that location, that would be awesome. Again, not looking for your spots.

So, below is a map of the lake and the spots I searched. I was on the lake for 5 hours and went through a tank of gas. The Lowrance Elite just never showed me any fish really. I am doing something really wrong. Through it all I found a few fish here and there. Got bit/tapped twice and missed both.

Here is detail of each area. I was trying to search the flats in 20-30 foot of water. I studied the lake map the last few days and these are the areas I chose. None really held any fish.

What am I doing wrong? Was i in the complete wrong areas? Just a crappy day of fishing?

Thanks,

Jason

Do you have info from a reliable source that the fish are holding at that depth? Looks like most of the places are similar. Might try a little shallower on south facing slopes since the weather has been nice the last few days. The front coming through today probably won't help you, though. Good luck!

Were you marking bait or fish there, what depth?
It will save you a lot of headaches and time to book a good guide trip and explain to him/her what you are wanting to do, this is the fastest and best way to learn.
In the long run probably the cheapest too.

Think you're to deep. There's been birds as you come out on main lake. There's a flat just north of what they call lower unit island (it's under water). Several weeks ago there was tons of bait fish in the middle cove in the back of three fingers. Homeowner said he had been catching them off his dock with a rattle trap. There was couple young kids tearing up sand bass when I was in there too. It's a deeper hole with 2 secondary points In there too.

Fishing has been a little off as the water stabilizes. We did well as it rose and the first few days after it opened back up. It slows down as the lake levels off. We have caught fish anywhere from 15 feet deep to 40 feet deep.

I mentioned in a previous post what baits works for me here, they put an 11.2 in the boat January last year.

Keep in mind these fish are MOVING...I have not really seen them in the same spot twice this month or anywhere near where they were last year.

It's been tough finding fish on Tawakoni the past few weeks. Water is very warm for this time of year and the fluctuating water levels are keeping the fish on the move. The bait is just starting to group up.

Also may want to one day invest in Side imagining will help you cover a lot more water and see more than just straight down. Good luck to you.
