I went out with one of Lake Forks top guides, big bad azz Ranger with all the hoots and toots,..250 motor and all.
He said I love this boat, but sometimes I wish it had 90...gas was a killer, he said he never went over 40 on a guide trip.. fish

My big heavy Ranger has easily hit 75 mph with a full load of gear and gas on a hot summer day.....but I was driving the truck that was towing it at the time. roflmao

Good point Doug. I would say to the OP that some of us want to have a faster boat for the same reason some guys buy a Corvette instead of a Prius. I've owned a few fast boats and I will tell you that it is a thrill to run triple digits across the water.

Did it help me catch more bass? No, but did I care?? Uh, that would be another No. wink

The boat I have now is a beautiful Legend Alpha 211 Yam 250 SHO and will run about 74 with me solo. It is the slowest rig I have owned out of the last six rigs. Guess what..

It hasn't helped me catch any more fish than my 100+ mph rigs!!

I only bring two lures, two weights , and one rod . I do not eat or drink the night before to gain another .03 mph.

Brad,

You're forgetting that you could easily get another .03-.10 mph if you take diuretic medication for at least a day before you fish. Don't forget to shave and polish your scalp if your head sticks up above the windshield!

It's fun to go fast with gas being $1.68 ! Wasn't so much at 4 bucks a gallon!

I enjoy speed and often punch it wide open just to see how the engine is holding up. Seems I've lost about .5 mph over the last 10 years.

But I can still break the speed limit.

Why is it that the only people that say they don't want to go fast can't because their boats are dog slow. hummmmm Your boat is slow live with it or buy a fast boat. Everyone would have a big fast boat with all the options if they were free. I would rather have a fast boat that can than a slow boat the can't. You can always go slow in a fast boat. No one wants a slow boat their just stuck with them. I can't wait to get my slow boat. Is there anyway I can make it slower? Drag the anchor that may help. You don't hear that very often.Slow boats suck and everyone knows it. Back in 1994 my 225 that I still have now was fast but today it's getting slow with all the bigger engines.

TAKE A PHOTO HOME NOT THE FISH. CATCH AND RELEASE
Set the hook first and ask questions later.
