TFFers, Fishboy Frank and Steve Dobson "The Dobber", hooked up with Mr. Matt Cartwright of Twok and invited me and Ron (a very interesting tree doctor with the coolest South African British accent) along. We had a heck of a catching day! It started out slow, very windy condition. Water was a bit stained from recent rain. We marked good fish but only few takers. Then Matt worked his butt off and took us all over the lake hunting for cooperative fish. Then bingo! at noon when winds died, the dark clouds and mists moved in over us! We sassy shad'ed em up left and right, chunk and wind style, fast and furious catching! The banana yellow 4" sassy shad from Moe's was what the fish wanted. Not flukes in 50 degrees water temp???

Everyone on the boat are good anglers and can catch! I was humbled by that. We had a solid 3 hrs of catching until the rain chased us off LOL!

Water temp was 56-59 degrees at different depths. Fish caught were mostly in deep 38ft+ but there were some at shallow spots also. Even saw hybrids and striper busted the surface around us too!? We boated 1/3 striper, 1/3 hybrids, 1/3 twok magnums. All were very healthy winter fish. We threw back a bunch and lost count. I hated having that problem? LOL!

What still amazes me about MC is that he's been fishing way too long but he's always a "student" of the sport...the water temps say we're in dead stick season but he's opened to try different lures, depths, retrieval speeds, etc to see what the fish want for the day, and then quickly re-tied all the rods for us. And he's humbled as apple pie...I like that approach in any angler lol grin

Here are a few collages of Tuesday for show and tell. My first time fishing with The Dobber, the man can CATCH! FYI smile

The current condition at Holiday. The marina is an "island" now. The lake is 2 ft over. The store and restrooms are dried and functional now. Great to see!

We did the dam dam route on the way home. Steve held up traffics so I can snap a few pics. Looks pretty and loud with the water gushing down at full speed!

FYI. The fishing is good at Twok guys! Matt is one of the good guides on the lake. So gather your buddies, book Matt or your favorite guides, skip pulling your boats across the metro mess, and have a great catching time! grin

I have been out with Matt several times. We always catch tons of fish and I have never been disappointed on any trip. Those are some amazing Tawakoni beasts.

Good pics, good report Todd. Matt is a great guy to spend the day with and I learn more every time I fish with him. And, Tawakoni is in a class by itself. Do yourself and favor and go learn how to do it right.

Thanks Todd! It's been a weird December, but it's also been so easy a caveman could do it lately, lol. I'll take it!

Had a 14 and 17 pound striper as well as a 12.5 hybrid in the last week or two. It's getting to be that time of year! Got days in January open call me at 214-415-0166 and let's go get em!
