It's about that time of the year as a boat-less angler that I get a chance to get after the almighty Crappie and have success in catching numbers of quality fish. I spend most of the year in lakes and reservoirs trying to catch a new personal best on Flathead and Blue Catfish, but once the first freeze hits and it gets so cold that layers of clothing is needed to withstand Jack Frost, I put down the heavy tackle and take to creeks: 1 bucket, 1 pole, and 1 bag -walking the banks of local Dallas creeks in search for the Crappies. Yup, like many of you who have had the pleasure to taste these fish, I know there ain't a better tasting fish in the lake. This along with Spring is my prime time to get my fill and I don't miss out. So, I decided to create a post and chronicle my weekly fishing trips. So, let's see how this turns out........... Thank you for following along, and set-a-hook!!!!!

Here's a catfish guy who can catch crappie, may be there's hope for me, j\k, inside joke clap Good luck and sounds refreshing. thumb

Why do I go fishing? To catch a box of fish and/or some quality time under the sun. Thank Heaven I never fail fishing in Texas, catching box fish or plenty of sunburn.

looking forward to it also , I would like to learn your process if you could tell us what do you look for on these walks . I've read tons of books but they really don't relate to a bank fisherman.

I went last night to a creek off of Northwest Hwy. The weather is warmer than the previous few days and the wind was high. Despite the signs telling me it wouldn't be a good day to go fishing, what did i do? I went anyway. fish The fish that were caught for the most part were on the smaller side but i did manage to get a few dinner guests. - all caught 3-6 ft below a float in 10 ft of water. The larger ones caught on a charteuse tube jig and electric chicken and monkey milk baby shad.

I was in the Christmas spirit and feeling hopeful the crappies wanted to share in on the Holiday Festivities. I had about an hour and a half to play with so i pushed on up to White Rock Creek. The giant tree that is usually in the water is now on the bank and the current behind it has stacked up plenty of trash and logs. I caught over 15 crappies mostly all dinks. I did manage to gift wrap 3 keepers though.

Keep Rippin' Lips!!!

May try to get in on that action tonight once the turkey has been digested. Hopefully a slice of pumpkin pie with hot coffee once the keepers have been filleted.
