Been closed for several months. Will not re-open until Lewsiville Lake gets to normal pool. Some good fishing and kayaking upriver around 428.

can you put in a Motored Jon boat and run this river? I have a 14ft with a 5 horse.

You can put in a canoe/kayak at the park on 380 (when it's open)
To take a boat you would have to run up from the lake.

beware of the almighty log jam if you come up from the lake... and many stumps in the north end of lewisville... shallow and somewhat dangerous

When all is "normal" you can launch an aluminum boat at 380. Easy ramp. 428 is too difficult as you need to walk it down stairs. It's possible, but difficult. I have seen it done many times at 380. Log jams will be your issue throughout. Just be sure to bring a paddle or push pole to help you get through them.

I have made the paddle from the lake. I believe I launched from Shady shorr, or maybe called sandy Shores. Not a bad paddle, but many shallow spots with stumps. Lots of debris at the mouth including 2 old trucks. Haven't been in that area since the flooding so it may be impossible.

If you have a kayak, launch from 428 and go upriver. As of a few months ago, the fishing was great! !
