That thread about KVD got me to thinking about what it's like to be a Pro Fisherman. Not the commercial kind, obviously. When you (at least when I) think about it, it's got to be one of the suckiest jobs out there. You fish all day, almost every day, for a living. What do you do to relax and clear the cobwebs out of the head? I wouldn't think it's going fishing. That'd probly be the very last thing you'd want to do.
Fishing, a man knows a serenity of soul and peace of mind that he finds in doing nothing else, and it makes no difference whether or not he catches anything. The mind of a true fisherman is not on petty subjects.

I know the majority of them love to hunt but I'm sure their family time is extremely important to them also

I'm no pro by no means but I will have been guiding full time 20 years in February. Bow hunting whitetails is how I get my relaxation.

I love to fish, look forward to it as much as possible..I've told many people that one of the JOBS I find as the hardest I've seen is someone who fishes for a living. Not just "PROs" but guides and commercial fisherman have a tough life. Especially guides, everyday you have clients you have to be an actor, weatherman, therapist, friendly and smiling, not to mention make the fish bite everyday... in all weather, will all types of fruitcakes.. hats off to all you guys.

I fish for a lot of other species like bream and crappie when I don't have to bass fish. I know a lot of the other guys do the same especially with our kids and family. There are times when fishing isn't work. A bunch of the other tour anglers salt water fish.

I know several (besides Clark) who deer hunt, saltwater fish and spend time with friends and family.

I enjoy fishing way too much to be anything fishing related besides an amateur. I have utmost respect and admire the pros, guides, etc. being able to make a living doing it. It's just my getaway card. If I had to make money doing it, I know I wouldn't enjoy it like I do now. Hats off to you guys!!

+1 with Okie. I have several friends and business acquaintances that have ask me why I don't guide and I tell them because I love fishing and fear that doing it day in and day out that I would no longer appreciate MY time on the water. I love being able to put these people on the fish of their lifetimes and seeing their smiles at the end of the day. It doesn't matter if it is a 2lb'er, 5 or bigger. When taking these type of people out there are no preconceived beliefs of a DD fish. Just going out for fun. This is also the reason that I refuse to fish the bigger trails. I do fish club level to quell the desire for competition.

When I was 20, it would have been the greatest job ever. After 40, it sometimes gets tough to get out there on nasty days. I always tell myself that someone has to do it. I may complain a little but deep down, I still do it for a reason, I love it.
