Where would a guy start looking for information on building a good fishing pond , any suggestions

You have many resources at your finger tips. The NRCS has information on pond building, local dirt movers-experienced in pond excavation, and book named perfect pond want one (written by Bob Lusk) are all good starting points.
Secondly depend on species you want will depend on type of pond, structure, and size (also influenced by size of your watershed). The more information you give the builder the better idea he has to help you build. T

Define your goals, the amount of $ you can really afford to spend, what limitations you can accept and the list goes on.

Where would a guy start looking for information on building a good fishing pond , any suggestions With a friend/neighbor/acquaintance/somebody that has a good fishing pond. Best bet is to see as many as you can so you can begin to get an idea of what you want from your pond. There are a lot of companies that help design, build and manage ponds for all kinds of things, especially fishing. The local county agent (Texas Agrilife) can be a good starting place. Private consultants with experience in your area would also be a very good place to get solid advice. Among the best of sources of good information would be the local private fish hatchery. Many are members of TAA (Texas Aquaculture Association) that publishes a list of fish farms and consultants.

Salex will help you as a consultant with your pond for a first time annual initiation fee of only $649. Each year after that you pay a low low fee of $495. There is a day use fee for when he consults and that is going to run you anywhere from $55-$100 for a half day up to $175 for a full day. If your kids want to get consultations on the same day they can get theirs free. Now that might seem like a lot of money but when you look at what you are getting, its a great value proposition. For example, when Salex consults with you, you will be THE ONLY one he consults with at that time. You have him all to yourself. When we say "Private consultations" that is what we mean. Also some other fellas consult day after day. We feel that wears them out. To keep Salex from burn out we are sure to rest him as often as required to keep his consultations strong. If you want to book him and the day shows full or booked, do not assume he is consulting, there is good chance we are just resting him so he will be fresh for your appointment. We take pride in how we manage Salex and his consultations. Matter of fact we are so sure that you will love his services, we offer a no obligation trial consultation for just a small one time fee! Reaper, one thing to remember. Lots of difference in a dozer driver and a pond builder.

One thing to consider, unless you have an unlimited budget, is the bigger the pond, the more it will cost to manage. Stocking rates, gallons of liquid fertilizer, aquatic herbacides, etc.
