hi, I have a Lund Fury SS. I wish I had bought this boat long ago.
it is perfect for what i do, just fishing.

Looks nice but when I went to go find a dealer near McKinney TX the two Texas and two OK dealers did not have anything in stock but Jon boats. Did you find one in Texas? The sport one they have looks nice on a 17 ft, you have any idea on price?

I keep on hearing that on Lund, I really like the crossover they do. Did you happen to get yours in Valley View? I have not been out to that dealer yet but looks like that is my best choice for the area. Price on the lund is the only thing holding me back on it.

I've been looking at these also for about six months--considering all the variables including Texas wind, it's what I would buy. It's the lightest boat style that can handle the chop we get here. The only significant negatives include that you would have difficulty running in less than 2 feet of water (may limit some up the river fishing options) They also catch more wind, and you might find wanting/needing ipilot offshore.

This boat style should be popular here, but it isn't and they are difficult to find.

Over the past six months, I've found several local deep V and modified V aluminum options on craigslist and boat trader; but not many.

Top of the line and most expensive include the following brands
Sea Ark, Alweld, Lund, G3, Ranger, Triton

In the middle: Polarkraft, Xpress, War Eagle, Duracraft, Alumaweld

More economical options include Lowe, Tracker, Crestliner

I bought my Lund in Valley View. was treated good.

I have a G3 angler V172 and love it!
It fit the type of fishing we do and the storage was what we looked for. Check out www.walleyecentral.com and read their reviews of different boats. They run the Deep V's up there more.

Thank you for all the input! I am going to have to go back and look at the G3 boats one more time. I had looked in Plano but past on them because I did not know much about them.
I have had bad luck trying to find a nice newer used one. I really am leaning towards new for the warranty and finance.
With the boat show coming first of the year (I think that is what I saw somewhere), I have been thinking of just waiting and giving that a try. Just not sure how many DeepV Aluminum style will be there.

And Tom, I might have to take you up on a boat ride in your Lund, I really put them at the top of my list...just scared of that darn price....

There's a lot of custom builders in LA and on the TX coast, there's a huge difference between a tin foil hull and a .35 welded commercial hull.

We've got a Tracker Targa and love it. Exactly what we wanted for our boat (despite the harrassment & negative comments we initially got about it being the worst of everything in a fishing & family combination/compromise). Plenty of room for our kids & the Gkids. Per the data specs its weight capacity will carry we 2 plus our 3 kids & spouses and the 6 Gkids, but more than one set of kid + Gkids is too crowded. Tracker says it'll do nearly 60mph with the 150 2stroke...ha!...if the speedo is close the best it'll do is ~45 and that's with a light load and that's plenty fast enough. It'll still pull the Gkids on a tube and get them airborne.

I looked around and see where the empire boats are a strong custom job nut looks more like a straight fish or hut hard type. I have to have a very family friendly boat (special needs son so the deepV is a must. But nice boats for sure.
