I actually thought it was spam at first too. Then when the name dropping started I just quit responding before I got WOSed. The guy seems a bit ridiculous.

@TimWins31 - Sorry about the name drop, but anytime I have fished Texas it has been with one of my clients. I was just trying to explain that I got a pretty good look at some of the great Texas lakes with those guys. I left off another 5 or 6 names and lakes in an attempt to not name drop. I've seen many of the lakes and seen them with some pretty good guides! To be honest I don't fish too much, I most take pictures and shoot video - teaching videos for everyday fisherman... trying to help others catch more fish!

@CaliKid - Bacarrac or Comedero haven't been to either of those, but I have heard Bacarrac was great. For me was Huites and El Salto - but I know there are others. There is one a few hours drive south of Arizona that is supposed to be amazing as well. Glad you got my title of the post in jest. It's a great place to fish and I can rattle of 20 lakes that could all be considered the BEST - all depends on how it fishes FOR YOU, when YOU get there.

As for Danger in Mexico - anytime you go to a foreign country it's more dangerous than a trip to another state. However, I have NEVER had a problem in Mexico - whether on a fishing trip, my honeymoon, or fun trips when I was in HS and college in so-cal.

For anyone who said SPAM... Well, SPAM is selling you something or getting you to come visit our website and look at our sponsors or something. I shared the show and you didn't even need to leave the Texas Fishing Forum. I was hoping you'd enjoy it instead of calling me a spammer. I'm on MANY Forums and share fishing commentary with many people about all sorts of topics. This post wasn't out to sell you anything. If I wanted to spam - I'd spam about our magazine and try to make some $$... spamming a free show you watch right here on Texas Fishing forum makes me $0!

For those of you who enjoyed the show. Glad you liked it. We do have 13 episodes and this was Episode 7. I probably won't post them here anymore since it seems like I offended some people... We had a good time making them and met some great everyday anglers from around the country.

Have a good day and I hope you all catch some Texas giants!

No "fish story" here. This is the truth, and there many who will back this up. On El Salto last week, Dec. 8-12, a group of 18 guys, for 4 1/2 days of fishing, caught a very close estimate of 4,500 bass, with an average estimated weight of a bit over 2 1/2 #'s, for a total of about 11,500 #'s of bass. The best 5 fish for that time period, for one guy, was almost 46#. My boat partner and I had an 89 fish day and another pair had a 99 fish day. There were 3 guys who had fish over 11 #'s, and there were a great many caught in the 5, 6, and 7 # range. Also fewer in the 8 - 10 # range; but it didn't matter the size of the fish, as they all tried to yank the rod out of your hand. I didn't beat my 11 # 4 oz. from when several of this group went down there last year, at the same time, and my best is trip was about 8 1/2 #. Not too shabby a fishing trip. The last day of fishing , Sat. the 12th, it poured so hard that there were times when I couldn't see my bait hit the water, but the fish still bit like crazy. Doug King and his Pro Bass Adventure Mexico based staff are the most accommodating folks, serving the best food, and way too much of it. The beer and tequila was also good. Great trip to El Salto with a great group of new and old fishing friends, staying at, and fishing from the best place.

El Salto is something special that is for sure. With that said, it wouldn't suprise me at all to match those numbers and beat the big fish from that trip several times over at Live Oak Plantation. We filmed 2 shows in one day and the numbers of fish caught are on the show. And this is during the worst time of year for fishing in the Georgia area. Either way, there are MANY great places to fish... Live Oak is another great option for trips like you just took, and a lower cost option too! That was my point... not that Mexico isn't great, of course it is that's not even debateable! And by the way I have nothing to do with Live Oak - other than we filmed there and owe them nothing. To be honest, I shouldn't say a word about it and just go fish it myself whenever I get the bug for a "catching" trip!

Glad to hear El Salto went well for you.

What's the lake in Northern Mexico Nogales or something like that - it's supposed to be incredible as well.

You can still have days like this on Fork...they just don't happen as often as in year's past.

Doug, sorry I actually have no idea. If you just want to fish it for the day I think it's like $50 (but don't quote me on that) They do have a lodge for the fishing and/or hunting and I don't know the rates for that either. No matter how much they charge it has to be cheaper to go to South Georgia than to a different country. Although if you live in South Texas it might not be too expensive to go to Mexico! Give them a call.

Its a catch and release pond, of course you're gonna catch big fish. Probably costs a boat load too.

For all who read my post 4 or 5 places above. I was corrected by Dannie Golden of Get-Bit Guide Service on the number of fish our group caught that were over 11#. We actually had 4. I forgot to include his 11#+ monster.

Tom, I hope you have learned a valuable lesson here.

Your "Pro VS Joe" project is awesome. Really great idea and execution.

However, we now have three pages of argumentative correspondence, and not one single person has even mentioned the video at the top of this thread (great video by the way). I mean, good Lord, people are starting other threads "inspired" by this thread.

I agree with you and thought the video was great. Is it really surprising that there is three pages of derailing's?? Just another week in the bass section. It does make it interesting at times though!
