A new Heroes on the Water (HOW) chapter has been established to serve the Fort Hood area near Killeen. In case you didn’t know, HOW helps our nation’s warriors and veterans from all services to unwind through the therapeutic qualities of fishing from kayaks. The unique program provides guided trips which serve to help our vets decompress from the stresses associated with combat and the physical rigors of rehabilitation.

The Fort Hood chapter will hold their first paddling & fishing event, their Spring Outing, on March 19, 2016 at Cedar Ridge Park on Lake Belton. Those wishing to attend should RSVP to ft.hoodtx@heroesonthewater.org in order to ensure enough resources are on hand during the event.

Anyone wishing to volunteer or donate to the new chapter can contact Greg Sterley at gssterl@gmail.com or Bert Rodriguez at info@lonestarchronicles.com.

I think it's going to be a great turnout. Fort Hood is the most populated base in the country but didn't have a HOW chapter...at least not until an Army helo pilot took notice and decided to start a chapter. Really looking forward to working with Greg Sterley, helping him establish a sustainable HOW chapter to serve the best in Texas, at Fort Hood.
