Brandon, I'd go with another new model Shimano. I use the Ci4+ and just love its light weight and power.

You mention the drag and, of course, it is up front on the Ci4+ making it super easy to adjust the drag in the middle of fighting a fish if need be. It happened to me not long ago. I had the drag set sort of in the middle range for 8 lbs. leader on a drop shot set up, something much larger got on line so I was able to cinch it up a bit for the proper tension.

I sure wish Shimano would punch a hole in the arbor making it "braid ready" for those of us who use backing. I note one of the newer high end Abu Garcia reels has this feature, thought about buying one, but the reviews while generally very positive hinted that the reel wasn't as smooth as it could or should be.

***Next up for me, I think, will be a Shimano Ci4+ FAML 1000 for a panfish reel and matching that with a rod to throw really light lures and jigs.

I also want to try Sufix Nanobraid in a very light test on this rig using a short fluorocarbon leader.

Brad

I use two different reels. I have a Daiwa Steez 2508/ 8 - 10lb flouro and a Daiwa EX Ballistic 2500 /10-12 flouro. I'll use either Toray or Sunline Flouro
