Just a heads up for those of you that have a boat in storage at any self storage place. I got a letter yesterday stating that they were going to be adding a 9% sales tax starting in December. I did some digging and found out that based on Texas administrative code, Boats are not considered Motor Vehicles, which most of you knew already , I also fount out that while trailers themselves are not exempt, if you have a boat on said trailer at the facility, then you are in fact exempt. I called my storage provider and notified them of this and the were happy to check and then subsequently remove the tax going forward. 9% of 105/month is basically an extra months premium per year. More money for slabs now!
