What is the power source and how is the power cord connected to it?

The power cord is connected to a switch on the switch panel and has the inline 5a fuse and then is powered from the cranking battery What is the power source and how is the power cord connected to it?

Extend the unit power cord directly to the battery with at least 14 gauge wire and use a spade type fuse/holder at the battery with a 5A fuse.
If it still does that, return the unit for a replacement.
