Fished with a young guide on Toho about two months ago who used stiff rods, locked down drag, and braid. We were fishing chatter baits over grass and I pulled the bait away from 4 fish. I also broke two off on hook sets with similar setup on Carolina rig with a short flouro leader. Benefit in that situation, when you do hook up, the braid does a great job cutting grass and letting you land the fish. My point is if you fish braid, I think rods with softer tips and a little slip in the reel is probably required. I use braid as mainline on C-Rig with long flouro leaders, Frogs, and flipping but that's it.

See you on the lake and have a great day!

If you are trying to save money cause you are on a budget go with braid. If you want to catch more fish over your lifetime go with flouro. If I were going to go broad I would follow Lee's advice with the flouro leader.

I have found this to be true on Lake Fork and many of the guides out there will tell you the same thing.

Had an elite pro tell me that using braid was costing me bites. Doesn't mean you wont catch them. If your confident that braid is your line of choice then go for it. My personal belief is to use best of what is out there for the technique your using.
