I found a cove that the bass have been very active in during the late evenings. i will see the fish chasing shad and coming completely out of the water. even some bigger fish, 4-5lbs, hitting top. I have thrown everything in the boat i have except the top water lures.

My question is, what would you throw in this situation?
is it too cold for top water lures?

No. That is what you should be throwing. Like a yellow magic or a spook or spook jr.

Top waters, yes. But don't discount the spoon, dropshot, and soft plastic jerk-bait. Could get the bigger fish in the school with these.

If you see them hitting the top. . .throw a topwater. If you can see them feeding then obviously it's not too cold.
