Clousers minnows below the surface and small poppers on the surface. I like green and white clousers but I really don't think color makes a big difference. I think size of the fly makes a much bigger difference.

I usually end up trimming my clousers shorter and shorter as the run continues.

try the small jig flies; they run hook point up which helps prevents snags and they really catch fish. I make them using a metal bead on a #10 jig hook; just a little chenille and some assorted fibers for the tail; try em; you'll like em-p-

depends on the clarity and size of the water. small creeks with clear water a small sparsely tied clouser is hard to beat. clousers in the 1.5" range in chartreuse with a some flash and has enough weight to sink fairly fast will serve you well. larger more turbid waters you'll want larger clousers in the 3" range, tied with more materials so they push more water are create a larger profile for the fish to see. I also think tying with UV material helps the fish see the fly in turbid waters, and adding a small spinner can add value in helping the fish key in on the fly.

I've had good luck with yellow wooly boogers and gummy minnows.

Lots of good advice already. If I had to pick one.........size 4 clouser, olive over white, gold flash, red eyes. All white and chartreuse/white is also good.

I prefer size 6 chartreuse and white Clousers follow been a close second by size 6 chartreuse and white clouser LOL. But in all actuality sandbass will hit anything that they can get in their mouth with one key factor presentation. I have seen days where they will only hit it coming down stream I've seen it only across current I have seen it when they will only eat if it's going upstream and their other day if you need to mend and just keep it right in front of their face until they eat it. notice it is still tied on that's what three hard days will do to a fly during the Sam Bass run I used it for another three just like that and caught fish every cast. It was one of those places there were not many flyfishing guys and guys would ask what I was using I said you can come look at it but you won't believe it. They had just about chewed my fingers to the bone at that point taking them off the hook. Also never underestimate using a indicator and a nymph as those fish as babies remember eating now growing up.
