I have fished weightless most of my time bass fishing simply because I fish shallow water. I crappie fish at eagle Mtn and would love to get into some Bass fishing. Any tips or tricks that could help thanks!

I love fishing a weightless Fluke or Senko but...

I fish a Carolina rigged Fluke in deeper water and it works very well. One of the most effective ways I've seen to fish a Fluke is with a fairly good sized swivel about 18" in front of it. It adds a little bit of weight and makes the Fluke dance a little bit differently when you jerk it.

I also will fish a Texas rigged Senko as well. Don't limit yourself to thinking there is only one way to fish any certain type of bait. The first time I ever saw anyone throw a Texas rigged Senko I thought the guy was crazy but he kicked my butt with it that day. We were fishing shallow coontail grass and cat tails in no more than 4' of water.

I'm not exactly sure what your specific question is. Can you specify a little better? Are you asking about when to go weightless and when to use a weight? Or something else?

I try to go weightless most of the time simply because I feel that the bait has a more natural appearance. However, when I want a reaction bite I'll put on a weight to make the bait fall faster and that usually draws a reaction strike. But as previously mentioned, don't be afraid to experiment. On tough days and high pressure, weightless seems to work better. On days that are cloudy, pre-frontal conditions, it doesn't really matter if it's weightless or not. Some of it is personal preference as well!

I want a senko and fluke to spiral downward toward the bottom. This represents a dying bait fish and the big Bass love it.
It only takes a small pinch bullet on the line at the nose.
- Fluke = 1/32
- Senko = 1/16

I fish a Senko weightless any time I can get away with it. If there's too much wind for that, I'll add the lightest bullet weight I can get away with.
