It's about danged time, too! I fished the Guadalupe these last four days, with a flow rate at 565 or above. Not even a nibble until yesterday when I caught a largemouth bass than was an inch too short to keep. Seven of my favorite lures are snagged in currently unreachable areas of the river due to the high cfs rate, but it was worth it. Finished work early today so I could give it one more try. I'm relatively new to fishing rivers (always been a pond, lake or ocean kind of guy) and I'm happy to say that my patient (or stubborn, yeah...probably stubborn) nature has paid off. This little morsel was only 10 and 1/2 inches long and dressed out at just under half a pound, but will make a nice appetizer for tonight's dinner.

Sweet ! Please explain are they stocked in the river this time of the year too, I've heard that they stock them in ponds but was unaware they did it in rivers also.

Yes, they've been stocking the lower Guadalupe for many years now, it's the southernmost trout fishery in the U.S. For several miles below the dam the water is cold enough year-round to sustain a small population of trout. The Guadalupe river chapter of Trout Unlimited also stocks trophy trout in parts of the river. I'm just learning all of this myself, the last time I went trout fishing was over 20 years ago in a stocked mountain lake in southern California.

I fished right below Canyon yesterday and no one caught anything while I was there. Going to look for other places.
