Those that you see when you are out are by unscrupulous fishermen that keep pretty much everything they catch. Game wardens usually have a field day during the winter creek runs. Most of us on here call game wardens whenever we see such abuse. Ignorance is no excuse. If I am gonna keep some to eat, I always measure what goes on the stringer! I work at Home Depot Part Time, so believe me access to tape measures is NOT a problem. In the winter, my orange Homer
Bucket always has a tape measure in it. Most of the time, if i gotta question size mentally, it's going back in the water, to grow some more.

Question with the recent warmer weather does the fish migrate out of creeks temporarily?
or do they hold and continue up the creeks

They will stay as long as the shad remain. The shad movement is their signal. 2cents

I got a report from a guru today that the construction and dam on the creek has really screwed up the crappie invasion on that creek.

hickory creek and pecan creek on lake Lewisville have excellent winter crappie fishing, once the water clears up, should be ok by now, but I haven't personally eyeballed it this week. Yet.
JP has two main feeders: Walnut Creek & Mountain Creek. In the dead of winter Walnut is my Favorite on this lake because it has several deep bends between the mouth of the creek and hwy360 that the Shad and Crappie stack up in.It`s a kayakers and small boat paradise in the winter if you don`t mind the fee.

for those of you that have not Met Rudy, he is a Super guy and full of knowledge, and always open to help out a fellow fisherman. I met Rudy last week at the creek by Bachman lake, at Lunch, and it was a pleasant meeting. Hope to fish with him some day. only had a short time that day.
