I looking to upgrade to a true crankbait rod and reel.
I'm thinking maybe 6:1 ratio cranker or maybe less, anything liteweight come to mind, also a good 100.00 to 150.00 rod or there about.

thanks

I've tried several fiberglass cranking rods, bu just never found any I really cared for. I much prefer graphite rods with a moderate to slow action. They're more sensitive than fiberglass and also usually lighter. As for reels, I prefer lower than 6.x:1 ratio. I actually have a 5.4:1 Daiwa Tatula and a 7'1" MH-Moderate Tatula Rod that is about as good as it gets for under $300. PM me if your interested in this combo, as I am considering parting with some gear to help pay Christmas bills. I'll definitely make you a deal.

If you are willing to wait until after Christmas Kistler has their new line of Argon Composite crankbait rods and Carbon Steel rods coming out.Argon rods are 60% graphite and 40% glass. I have 3 of these and they are SWEET!! They're light sensitive and balance well with the 5.4:1 Tatulas.
I use these rods for crankbaits up to a 1/2 oz and up to 1 oz rattle type baits
They will be priced at $159.95
Carbon Steel rods use a 96% Intermediate carbon fiber so no glass in this rod and they are $119.95

I only use 6 or 6.5 ft rods due to wrist injury, are there any rods that are of this length in crankers?

There are. CastAway has several models that'll do the trick. I have 3 different rod models based on the bait I'm throwing. Can't throw a squarebill on the same rod as a 10XD. What type of cranking are you going to be doing mostly?

The composite Bass Pro Crankin' Stick is not a bad rod, but not a great rod either. I prefer to crank with a 5 ratio reel. I have like 7 of the old greenie Curado reels, the 200B5 reels are indestructible and smooth. Hope this helps. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

Kistler rods are a great way to go. As for reels, I have a 5.4:1 Orra 2 Winch that I just started using for cranking. Great reel for the money imo.
