I am considering changing from my big game trilene to another line with less recoil. I have heard a lot about seaguar also maybe going to fluorocarbon. What is the recoil like and also abrasion strength of these. Any recommendations will be appreciated. thanks Charles

If you want no recoil at all you could use braid main line with a 5 ft. fluorocarbon leader. I thoroughly enjoy it. And it's cheaper than using all fluorocarbon.

i did the fluoro thing, now i use braid on spinning with a leader & heavy stuff and izorline platinum on everything else.....fluoro is marketing hype... read about some of the testing that has been done, the only difference is it sinks, and has a little better feel because of density, but get a high end mono or copoly line and the "+" things i mentioned about fluoro vanish.....i can buy 3 spools of izorline for one fluoro, and there is no memory until you step up into the 20+ ranges good limp smooth line

Fluorocarbon will get a lot of memory if you don't use it very often. I use BPS brand of XPS fluorocarbon, but I soak it in KVD Conditioner before I put it on the reel and then I spray it on the line once it's on the reel and leave it over night. Then I take the reel out on the rod, tie the line off to a fence post, let it out then stretch it out, then spray the conditioner on when reeling it back up. There will be much less memory that way. That would also work on any other fluorocarbon line. I'd really suggest mono. in either Trilene XL or Stren original for easy casting. For abrasion resistance mono I like Trilene XT. Use whatever strength you need for the type of fishing you are doing. For spinning reels or top water baitcasting reels (frogs, etc.) I do love braid with or without a leader, less twist and no memory.

I am considering changing from my big game trilene to another line with less recoil. I have heard a lot about seaguar also maybe going to fluorocarbon. What is the recoil like and also abrasion strength of these. All lines have more memory when the weather is cold outside. Take that into consideration. I like Seaguar Invisx and I like Big Game but they both have a lot of memory when it is 40 degrees unless you put it on the reel the morning of your trip. If you really want a setup with no memory, try the braid w/ fluoro leader thing. It works well but braid has its own set of issues.

McCoys Mean Green or Ultra Clear, almost no memory compared to Big Game. I have had a reel spooled for over 5 years and still using it, w/o much memory. STRONG stuff, too, as I have straightened out #4 hooks on 17# test. GREAT STUFF! It also has GREAT abrasion resistence and good stretch, too. Hope this helps.
Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

If you want "little recoil" you do not want fluorocarbon! Any flourocarbon. Some have less than others, all have too much for me.

Earlier in the year I was looking and a TFFer recommended Mason T-line...I ordered a spool and really like it..very little memory and good abrasion resistance...My favorite previous was PLine CXX Premium...but I like this better and it is a better value, only place I could find it was from their on line store...Someone said that Barlows used to carry it...but they dont stock it any more... http://www.masontackle.com/index.php?l=product_detail&p=22

Braid. It has no memory. Other than that, every other line has some amount of memory.
